IE8, again

There's more good news about IE8 - it won't have "hasLayout" either. The message revealing this is extremely light on details, but if this has the consequences implied, then a whole category of IE-related layout strangeness disappears into thin air with version 8.

Today I ran into a problem with IE7 and gmail on my folks PC. I got an email that had no formatting to force word wrapping on so several lines were waaaaaay off screen to the right. This was a major pain in the ass because several of the gmail menus were pushed off screen as a result.

The same message in Firefox displayed perfectly, of course.

Emails, that's a whole other ball game (of which, more shortly)

This is potentally GMail itself, or possibly a tag-team between GM and IE.
